Terms & conditions – Non-Member Personal Loan
  • Loans are for non-members of NSCL, offered through Navara Financial Services Limited (NFSL), NSCL's lending subsidiary.
  • Every application is assessed by the NFSL Credit Committee, using the "5 Cs of Credit" (Character, Capacity, Capital, Collateral, Conditions), and must be approved in writing before any money is paid out.
  • Maximum loan VT 300,000; maximum term 12 months.
  • Interest is 15%, fixed for the life of the loan, charged once on the principal. The VT 10,000 application fee is included in the loan and no interest is charged on it.
  • Repayment is fortnightly by salary deduction, or by bank standing order where salary deduction isn't available. A standing order must be signed before the loan is paid out.
  • Salaried applicants' employers sign the Non-Members Loan Agreement with Employment Entitlement Deduction. If your job ends before the loan is repaid, your employer pays your outstanding final entitlements to NFSL, up to the loan balance.
  • You agree to tell us three months before you resign or retire.
  • Security may include a security deposit (% set at the Committee's discretion), an alternate repayment source who becomes bound if repayments are missed for three consecutive months, and your job entitlements.
  • You can repay in full at any time with no extra charges.
  • If a repayment is missed, we'll contact you (and your employer where relevant) to put things right; continued missed payments are treated as a default.
  • Applicants with an unresolved default with NFSL or NSCL are not eligible.

How we lend

How we lend responsibly

Every application is looked at fairly and carefully by our Credit Committee, using the 5 Cs of credit:

  • Character – your record of repaying and managing money.
  • Capacity – whether your income comfortably covers the repayments.
  • Capital – your savings and other resources.
  • Collateral – any security for the loan.
  • Conditions – the purpose of the loan and the wider economy.

We know our customers. We confirm every borrower's identity with a valid photo ID (passport, national ID or driver's licence), proof of address and proof of income, as required by Vanuatu law.

Your information is safe. We protect your details, use them only for lawful business purposes and limit access to authorised people.

We lend what you can repay. We check affordability before approving, so repayments don't cause hardship.
